Description of the host project
The pedagogical focus of the Schwäbischen Jugendbildungsstätte (Jubi) Babenhausen contains education
for sustainable development, environmental education, experience based training, intercultural learning
and international experience. In all operational fields the Jubi offers trainings lasting one or more days for
school classes, youthgroups and intermediars. A special part of the jubi is the so called Umweltstation,
which is specialised upon education programmes in ecological contexts and sustainable development for
schoolclasses, youth and young adults. There are a lot of possibilities resulting from the multivarious
offerings of the jubi´s programme for the EVS's to get new experiences and take challenges conducting
their own competences and interests. For the institution it is important that the trainees are able to bring
in their indivdual skills and abilities. The volunteer can gain experiences in the schoolclass projects and the
other seminars, in the houskeeping section, and in working in the big garden surrounding the Jubi. There
is a volunteer in the Jubi since several years yet who is working one year in the environmental projects,
called FÖJ. The intention of two volunteers lies in the oppurtunities of working together and exchange
their project experiences.
Profile of the volunteer
The volunteer must be open-minded for working in a team and for the cooperation with the staff in the
house. The EVS's are taking part in the team of the Jubi, which means being involved in meetings,
The volunteer should have some basic knowledge in German and English due to the fact that she / he
should be able to communicate with the persons in our organisation.
The volunteer also should know something about living in a rural district, so that he / she can imagine
how to deal with the local conditions.
