To help recognise emerging medical science journalists, the German medical journal Deutsches Ärzteblatt, the European Union of Science Journalists’ Associations (EUSJA), and the World Health Summit (WHS) have launched the second “Next Generation of Science Journalists” Award.

The top five young science journalists will be invited to participate in the WHS 2013 and experience a unique learning and networking opportunity with some 1000 high-ranking participants from academia, politics, the private sector, and civil society. Additionally, each winner will receive 500 Euro to recompense travel expenses.

The applicants must be at the beginning of their career as science journalists with a maximum of 5 years’ experience. Submissions will be accepted from every country, however, English is required. Translations will be accepted if the original article is attached.

Young science journalists should submit their article on the main topic of “Global Health”, which must have been published after the 1st of January 2012, to: [ fcp://@mail.eurodesk.org,%231015448/Mailbox/Opens window for sending emailo('nbjmup+tdjfodf.kpvsobmjtu.bxbseAxpsmeifbmuitvnnju/psh'); ]science-journalist-award(at)worldhealthsummit.org. The article may be published in any form: print, digital, acoustic or visual. Audio and video content is to be made available via web-link. A short CV (one page), and a scan of a current passport must accompany the submission.
