The shots Directory is a comprehensive guide to the world’s advertising agencies, production companies, directors and facilities companies servicing the film and broadcast commercial industries.
Photography students studying degree-level courses around the world are invited to take part in this competition.

Theme: the theme for 2011 is "First Impression". It can be interpreted freely. The most original ideas and execution will be rewarded.

Who can apply: current and graduated photography students of degree-level courses based anywhere in the world.

Criteria:
• all entries must respond to the theme and comprise a set of related images or a developing narrative.
• the submitted photo must be the original work of the participant taken during the course of the competition.
• each participant may submit between three and ten digital pictures.

Selection:
Up to 60 entrants will be selected to have a sequence of work included in the shots Directory 2011, along with their contact and college details. Of these, ten outstanding entries will be chosen for extended coverage in the book. Four exemplary photographers will, in addition, be profiled, and the overall winner will have his or her work featured on the cover. The winner will also receive a cash prize of £500.
